Job summary

The Delaware Department of Correction is seeking a skilled trades professional to perform advanced electrical work across state facilities. You'll install, repair, and maintain electrical systems, interpret blueprints, and ensure safety and compliance while supporting life-safety equipment.

This role includes supervising maintenance staff and inmate workers, managing preventative maintenance tasks, and coordinating with security and operations.

Qualifications

• Delaware Master Electrician license or equivalent as determined by the State Board.
• Six months experience in trades such as plumbing, carpentry, painting or HVAC.
• Six months experience in record keeping.
• Six months experience in interpreting blueprints, schematics or technical drawings.
• Six months experience in estimating cost, time and materials for projects.
• Valid Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Install/inspect electrical services for power to lighting and HVAC systems.
• Operate voltage testers, ampmeters, and related test devices.
• Install, maintain, repair wiring, generators, and life-safety systems.
• Oversee work of skilled and inmate maintenance staff.
• Carry out preventative maintenance and restoration activities in trades.
