Job summary

Florida Department of Corrections seeks a Master Electrician for Martin Correctional Institution to maintain, repair, and install electrical systems across the facility. This role requires adherence to codes, reporting to the Maintenance Department, and ensuring efficient operation of electrical infrastructure.

Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, record-keeping, supervising inmate workers, and supporting training efforts within the department.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with at least 1 year of electrical/electrician experience, or 4+ years in electrical/electrician field (training may substitute).
• Valid Driver’s License required for the role.
• Background screening (Level 2) is required before start.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, repair, and install electrical infrastructure, systems, devices up to 600 volts.
• Perform preventive maintenance, tests, logs, and equipment records.
• Install/alter/repair electrical infrastructure, lighting, motors, transformers, and related distribution.
• Supervise inmates, prepare progress reports, and participate in required departmental training.
