Job summary

Hamilton County Department of Education seeks a dedicated teacher to deliver Algebra I/II and English I/II in local juvenile detention and adult correctional facilities. You will create engaging lessons, align placements with state standards, and coordinate schedules for instructional staff.

You will monitor student progress, administer tests, and collaborate with counselors to support academic, emotional, and social growth while ensuring safety and compliance with policy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field.
• Valid State of Tennessee teaching license in appropriate endorsement.
• Or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.

Responsibilities

• Plan and develop courses of study aligned with district/state guidelines.
• Develop and present engaging lessons using varied techniques.
• Establish learning targets and create aligned assessments.
• Monitor and analyze student data to inform instruction.
• Administer standardized tests per policy.
• Maintain classroom order and manage behavior.
• Counsel students with academic or behavioral issues.
• Coordinate with parents and professionals on student progress.
• Collaborate with staff to support IEP/504 plan implementation.
• Plan events and enrichment activities for students.
