Job summary

The State of Georgia is seeking a Math Teacher for the Dekalb Regional Youth Detention Center in Decatur, GA. Under supervision, you will develop and deliver math lessons, create an engaging learning environment, and support diverse learners in a juvenile facility setting.

Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree and eligibility for Georgia Clear and Renewable Teacher Certificate; SRT-4 or higher in Math is preferred.

Qualifications

• Completion of an undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university and eligibility to obtain a Georgia Clear and Renewable Teacher Certificate.
• OR Hold a Provisional Georgia Educator’s Certificate AND eligible to obtain a Georgia Clear and Renewable Teacher Certificate as required by statute.
• SRT- 4 or higher (4-8) or (6-12) in Math

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning.
• Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.
• Uses relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.
• Manages student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.
• Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school.
• Provide appropriate feedback on work and monitor progress of individual students.
