Job summary

Humboldt County Sheriff's Office is seeking a dedicated Correctional Deputy II to maintain facility security and oversee inmate welfare during shifts. You will prepare accurate reports, log files, and coordinate with medical and security staff to ensure safe operations.

The role requires handling inmates, supervising crews, and responding to emergencies with discretion and integrity. Evening, night, and weekend work may be required, with opportunity for overtime and benefits.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of jail operations, laws, and inmate rights.
• Ability to administer complex jail operations independently.
• Ability to work under stressful, potentially dangerous conditions.

Responsibilities

• Maintain inmate security and monitor activity.
• Process inmates at intake, fingerprint, and releases.
• Supervise inmate work crews and ensure rule compliance.
• Escort inmates within jail and provide security for medical staff.
• Document incidents and prepare reports.
