Job summary

County of Humboldt Sheriff's Office is seeking an entry-level Correctional Deputy I to help maintain jail security and inmate welfare on a shift basis. The role involves assigning inmates, recording incidents, and assisting with medical and court-related transports in a structured environment.

The position requires training toward BSCC certification, completion of core courses, and adherence to strict safety and reporting standards.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade.
• Must possess/obtain California Driver's license within twelve months of appointment.
• Must complete BSCC Adult Corrections Officer Core Course within twelve months of appointment.
• Possession of firearms qualification.

Responsibilities

• Maintain inmate security and monitor activity in accordance with laws and policies.
• Process incoming inmates and maintain logs and files.
• Escort inmates to court, medical appointments, and other facilities.
• Prepare clear, accurate reports and statements of incidents.
