Job summary

The County Sheriff's Office invites applications for the Sheriff’s Correctional Deputy Cadet - Unclassified. Cadets enter training and, upon graduation, may be sworn in as a Sheriff's Correctional Deputy.

Cadets must pass agility, medical, and background checks, with a 13-week Academy and a 5% raise after six months for performance. Applicants must meet education and driver’s license requirements, be able to work legally in the United States, and maintain CPR/First-Aid certification.

Qualifications

• Graduate from high school or obtain a GED.
• Must be at least 21 years old to be appointed.
• Possess a valid California Driver's License.
• No felony convictions; cannot be disqualified by felony history.
• Must have legal right to work in the United States.
• Must pass a medical examination.
• Must pass a thorough background investigation (fingerprints, records).
• CPR and first-aid training required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain order and security of inmates within a detention facility.
• Transport inmates to and from court and medical facilities.
• Supervise a crew of inmates on county-wide work projects.
• Assist in correction of antisocial attitudes and behavior.
• Attend and complete the Adult Correctional Academy training program as a trainee.
