The County Sheriff\u2019s Office is seeking a Sheriff\u2019s Correctional Deputy Cadet - Unclassified. Cadets enter a 13-week Adult Correctional Academy training program to become Deputy Cadets, with benefits including medical, dental, and life insurance.

Applicants must pass an agility examination and meet physical, medical, and background requirements. A 5% salary increase is provided after six months at Step 1, with an 18-month probationary period upon graduation.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or GED at application time.
• Must be 21 years old by appointment.
• Possession of a valid California Driver's License.
• Never convicted of a felony; disqualifying convictions elsewhere.
• Legal right to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Maintain order and security of inmates within a detention facility.
• Transport inmates to and from court and other facilities.
• Supervise a crew of inmates on work projects throughout the county.
