Job summary

County Sheriff's Office seeks a Sheriff’s Correctional Deputy Cadet - Unclassified to begin training and join the correctional team. Cadets learn under supervision to maintain facility order, supervise inmate work, and support safety operations across the county.

Applicants must meet the education, work eligibility, and health standards. The program includes a 13-week Adult Correctional Academy with medical, dental, and life insurance benefits; a 5% pay increase after six months; and

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must be able to pass medical examination and physical fitness tests.
• Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Background investigation including fingerprints required.
• CPR and first-aid certification required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain order and security within the detention facility.
• Transport inmates to and from court and medical facilities.
• Supervise inmates on work projects around the county.
• Assist in correction of antisocial attitudes and behavior.
