Job summary

The GEO Group, Inc. is seeking a licensed dentist to provide and supervise comprehensive dental care for facility detainees. You will evaluate, treat, and implement the facility's dental health program, coordinating with medical staff to ensure high-quality care and adherence to standards.

Ideal candidates will have a dental degree, active license, and experience in correctional health settings, with a focus on safety, confidentiality, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Qualifications

• Must be at least twenty-one years old.
• Dentistry degree from an accredited school required; licensed to practice in the state.
• Professional license must remain on file at all times.
• Ability to work with detainees/inmates and correctional staff.
• Adapt clinical techniques for a correctional setting and security considerations.

Responsibilities

• Initiate and maintain compliance with accreditation policies.
• Complete initial dental screenings within seven days for new commitments.
• Evaluate patients and propose clinically appropriate care; route prostheses to labs.
• Formulate individual treatment plans after a thorough exam.
• Perform routine cleaning, drilling, fillings, and extractions per standards.
• Educate patients on oral health and preventive care.
• Teach diet, flossing, fluoride use, and related care.
• Prescribe medications and monitor treatment regimens as needed.
• Maintain clear health records and use EHR systems.
• Monitor dental supplies and equipment needs.
• Provide in-service training to health staff on dental topics.
• Supervise professional and support staff; participate in evaluations.
• Maintain patient confidentiality per privacy laws.
• Collaborate with hospital medical teams and health staff.
• Pursue ongoing professional development and attend workshops.
• Maintain professional appearance and demeanor.
