Job summary

NaphCare, Inc. is hiring a Correctional Dental Assistant for the Pueblo County Detention Center in Pueblo, Colorado. This PRN position supports dentists and correctional staff in delivering dental care to incarcerated patients.

New grads are encouraged to apply and will be trained. The role includes patient prep, chairside assistance, records management, sterilization, and related administrative duties in a controlled environment.

Qualifications

• Completion of a one or two-year dental assistant program from a vocational school or community college.
• Maintain the proper training and unrestricted certification as a Dental Assistant.
• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• Be able to obtain CPR certification.
• Maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information.
• Adhere to Code of Conduct and facility policies and legal requirements.
• Must pass the facility's criminal background check and drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate dental services and assist the Dentist with patient care, instruments, supplies, documentation and support the dental department.
• Assist the Dentist during treatment by providing instruments, materials, retraction or suction.
• Ensure all dental equipment is maintained and the dental suite is clean and well-stocked.
• Sterilize and disinfect equipment and tools.
• Assist in triage, scheduling, patient records and other administrative tasks.
• Explain dental procedures and oral hygiene practices to patients.
• Take and develop x-rays and assist with dental laboratory functions.
