Job summary

The GEO Group Australia Pty Ltd. is hiring a Counselor in Hagerstown, Maryland to oversee substance abuse screenings and assessments. Ideal candidates hold an Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Health and Human Services or a related field, with required certifications. Bilingual candidates are preferred.

This full-time position involves direct interaction with participants to assess their needs and provide treatment plans and counseling, contributing to rehabilitation efforts within correctional services.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Health and Human Services counseling field or Bachelor’s degree in related field with relevant certification required.
• Certified as an alcohol and drug counselor by the Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists.
• Ability to work a varied schedule that may include evenings.

Responsibilities

• Administer and score standardized substance abuse screening and assessment instruments.
• Conduct screenings and assessments during the intake process.
• Prepare written reports based on assessment results.

Skills

Bilingual English/Spanish

Excellent oral and written communication

Ability to work with computers and necessary software

Education

Associate degree in Health and Human Services

Bachelor’s degree in Health and Human Services, Psychology, or related field
