Job summary

The GEO Group in Jessup, Maryland is seeking a Counselor responsible for administering substance abuse assessments and providing treatments based on the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) standards. Ideal candidates will hold a relevant associate or bachelor’s degree and have certification as an alcohol and drug counselor.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in relevant counseling field with ADT designation or Bachelor's with CAC-AD certification.
• Able to work varied schedules including evenings.
• Skills in emergency response communication.

Responsibilities

• Administer and score substance abuse screenings and assessments.
• Conduct individual and group counseling sessions.
• Prepare written reports based on assessment results.

Skills

Bilingual English/Spanish

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Ability to interact professionally in counseling settings

Ability to work with computers and necessary software

Education

Associate degree in Health and Human Services or related field

Certified as an alcohol and drug counselor
