Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; for Level I, substitution of one year of inmate contact experience per 30 semester hours of education.
• Level II requires a bachelor’s degree and two years of correctional records management or social casework.
• Level III requires a bachelor’s degree and three years of correctional records management or social casework; Master’s degree may substitute for one year of experience.

Responsibilities

• Uses interview techniques and assessment instruments to determine offenders' security risks and needs; prepares case history reports and recommends program assignments.
• Reviews offender work and conduct records to determine progress or need for changing classifications; serves on the classification unit.
• Advises offenders on personal problems, employment resources, vocational skills, educational and training needs.
• Delivers programs to assist re-entry after release from incarceration; develops offender transition plans; coordinates with partners for post-release services.
