Job summary

Qualifications

Must be at least 18 years of age.
Be a citizen of the United States.
Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent.
Must have completed the basic recruit training course for correctional officers and have one year of experience as a certified officer with the State of Florida.
Must not have received a suspension within the past 12 months.
Must not have received an involuntary demotion within the past 24 months.
Must not have received less than a 3.00 rating on a performance evaluation within the past 3 fiscal years.

Responsibilities

Supervise Correctional Officers and Correctional Officer Sergeants assigned to any security post on any shift.
Serve as the initial Commander during emergency situations and plan, organize and coordinate activities of all Correctional Officers and Sergeants on a shift.
Delegate post and duty assignments, coordinate leave use and ensure attendance and leave reports.
Work with lead officers to ensure proper security coverage and conduct counseling as needed.
Supervise searches for contraband and daily inspections of buildings and grounds; assess security concerns and sanitation standards.
