Job Description:

The Systems Design Engineer includes both Mechanical and Electrical Engineering disciplines. The job responsibilities include developing 2D and 3D drawings and sheet sets to meet feasibility study requirements. As part of the design packet, the Engineer will develop the project estimate and schedule to prepare the study for funding approval. The Systems Engineer will need to effectively communicate cross-functionally to gain support for projects and drive schedule compliance. They also will interface and collaborate with material-handling vendors,conveyor manufacturers, electrical control manufacturers and consultants to ensure compliance with UPS standards, and safety regulations. The final project shouldincorporate the latest engineering technologies to deliver the most efficient and cost-effective solutions in the material-handling industry.

Knowledge and Skills

• Project Planning: Develops and executes project management plans for basic projects of short duration requiring limited coordination and resources; supports initiatives with well-defined project needs and cross-functional roles/responsibilities throughout the project life cycle; manages minimal organizational resistance to cross-functional project demands; employs project management tools and technology (e.g., Microsoft Project, Program Management Group website, etc.) appropriately.
• Estimation and Forecasting Knowledge: Specifies facts, research, and perspectives necessary to make projections; analyzes statistics and qualitative information within specified parameters; research trends and conditions used to make projections.
• Meticulous with the ability to distinguish between “big picture” concepts anddetailed facts, while ensuring tasks are completed accurately and with appropriate level of detail to impact end goals.

Specific Software/Application experience

• Proficient in advanced 2D and 3D drafting, utilizing Autodesk products: AutoCAD, Architecture, Inventor with Factory Design Utilities, Navisworks Manage and Docs. SolidWorks experience is optional.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, OneNote, Teams, and Outlook)
