Job summary

Metra Commuter Rail seeks a licensed attorney to join the Law Department in support of the Corporate/Regulatory team. The role involves contract negotiations, compliance with federal, state, and local laws, and providing practical legal advice across departments.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school.
• Two years of experience as a practicing attorney.
• Licensed attorney in good standing in Illinois.
• Working knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and procedures.
• Experience with legal research tools such as Westlaw.
• Proficient with Microsoft 365 suite.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and interpret legal documents and contracts to ensure all relevant facts and legal considerations are addressed before execution.
• Provide accurate, concise legal research and analyses; support senior attorneys and leadership.
• Review procurement contracts, local/state/federal regulations, FOIA/OMA matters.
• Assist with employment-related issues and policy compliance; represent the agency in proceedings if needed.
