Job summary

Sun Communities, Inc. is seeking a Corporate Paralegal to support its growing legal team in governance, securities compliance, and transactional matters for a publicly-traded REIT.

The role requires strong organizational skills and experience in corporate law, with collaboration across Finance, M&A, Investor Relations, and leadership. The ideal candidate will draft agreements, maintain corporate records, support mergers and acquisitions, and help manage outside counsel and regulatory filings.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in Paralegal Studies is required.
• 3 years of paralegal experience is required.
• 3 years experience with real estate, corporate, securities, or commercial litigation is preferred.
• Proficiency with legal research tools such as Westlaw or LexisNexis.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
• Ability to work with cross-functional teams across departments.

Responsibilities

• Assist with drafting, reviewing, and managing commercial contracts (vendor, property management, purchase/sale, leases, etc.).
• Coordinate due diligence, prepare closing documents, and maintain transaction files.
• Support corporate governance activities, board materials, and corporate records.
• Coordinate with inside/outside counsel; maintain litigation tracking systems.
• Conduct legal research on real estate, corporate, securities, and related topics.
• Maintain legal department files, contracts database, and document management systems.
• Assist licensing team with insurance certificates and regulatory compliance.
• Coordinate outside counsel and track progress on matters.
• Process and track legal invoices and budget; ensure proper coding/approval.
