The Opportunity

A private equity-backed midstream portfolio company is seeking a high-caliber Corporate Development Associateto join its team in Houston.

This is an excellent opportunity for a 2–4 year Investment Banking Analyst / Associate to transition from an advisory environment into a principal-side corporate development role, gaining direct exposure to M&A, acquisitions, strategic investments, capital allocation and the continued growth of a midstream energy infrastructure platform.

The ideal candidate will have investment banking experience within Oil & Gas, Midstream, Energy Infrastructure or Energy Transition, with a strong understanding of energy markets and transaction execution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the identification, evaluation and execution of M&A and corporate development opportunities.
  • Build and maintain detailed financial models to evaluate potential acquisitions, investments and strategic initiatives.
  • Conduct valuation, transaction and returns analysis across midstream and energy infrastructure assets.
  • Assist with the full transaction lifecycle, from initial opportunity evaluation through due diligence, negotiation and closing.
  • Conduct detailed company, asset, industry and market analysis to support investment and strategic decisions.
  • Prepare investment committee materials, management presentations, transaction analyses and board-level materials.
  • Coordinate financial, commercial, operational and legal due diligence processes.
  • Work closely with senior management, the private equity sponsor, investment banks, advisors and other external stakeholders.
  • Evaluate potential asset acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures and strategic partnerships.
  • Monitor industry trends across Oil & Gas, Midstream, Natural Gas, LNG, Energy Infrastructure and Energy Transition.
Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will have:

  • 2–4 years of Investment Banking experience at a leading investment bank or highly regarded boutique.
  • Strong preference for candidates with Oil & Gas, Midstream or Energy Infrastructure experience.
  • Transaction experience across M&A, corporate finance and/or capital markets.
  • Strong financial modeling and valuation capabilities.
  • Excellent analytical and quantitative skills.
    Preferred Investment Banking Background

    Particularly relevant candidates may come from teams covering:

    • Gathering & Processing
    • Power & Utilities

    Candidates with broader Oil & Gas investment banking experience who have a demonstrated interest in midstream infrastructure and principal-side investing will also be considered.
