Aurex Group in Houston is seeking an Investment Analyst or Associate to join its energy-focused investment team. This newly created role concentrates on private equity investments across the oil and gas value chain, with potential exposure to energy infrastructure.

You will work with senior professionals through the full investment lifecycle, including evaluation, execution, and portfolio management, gaining significant responsibility and direct interaction with management teams and lenders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Engineering or related field.
  • Approximately 2–4 years of total professional experience.
  • Experience in investment banking, private equity or similar transaction-focused role.
  • Strong financial modeling, valuation and transaction-analysis capabilities.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • MBA is not required.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate private equity investment opportunities across upstream, midstream, energy services and related infrastructure.
  • Build detailed financial models, valuation analyses and investment return scenarios.
  • Conduct commercial, financial, operational and strategic due diligence.
  • Prepare investment memoranda and materials for investment committee review.
  • Support transaction execution across acquisitions, financings, restructurings and exits.
  • Monitor portfolio company performance and assist with strategic, financial and operational initiatives.
  • Work directly with management teams, lenders, legal counsel, consultants and other external advisors.
  • Conduct industry research and help identify new investment themes and opportunities.
  • Support business development and relationship-building with executives, intermediaries and industry participants.

Job description

An established private investment firm is seeking an Investment Analyst or Associate to join its Houston investment team.

This newly created position will focus primarily on private equity investments across the oil and gas value chain, with potential exposure to related energy infrastructure and natural resources opportunities. The successful candidate will work closely with senior investment professionals throughout the full investment lifecycle, including opportunity evaluation, transaction execution and portfolio management. The role offers significant responsibility, direct exposure to senior decision-makers and internal/external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate private equity investment opportunities across upstream, midstream, energy services and related infrastructure.

  • Strong financial modeling, valuation and transaction-analysis capabilities.
  • Experience evaluating M&A transactions and conducting financial due diligence.
  • Clear interest in oil and gas, energy infrastructure and private equity investing.
  • Strong analytical ability, attention to detail and commercial judgment.
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams in a fast-paced transaction environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • An MBA is not required.
Preferred Experience
  • Transaction experience across upstream, midstream, power, energy infrastructure or natural resources.
  • Prior experience within a leading investment bank or private equity firm.
  • Exposure to leveraged finance, project finance, structured capital or cross-border transactions.
  • Experience working with businesses, management teams or counterparties in Latin America.
