Meet The Team

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Cisco legal team directly supporting the Americas Service Provider business. You'll work with Cisco Service Provider customers in the technology, media and communications segment to enable customer success and meet Cisco goals; develop close working relationships with the sales, engineering, operations, finance and legal teams bringing our products to market, and gain a deep understanding of our go-to-market strategies, business processes, and product offerings.

Your Impact

We are looking for a fun, creative teammate, hungry to dive into a wide variety of hands on work to help drive the business forward.

General expectations for this role:

  • Adaptability. You are highly motivated, determined, tech-savvy and comfortable working in a dynamic environment and demonstrate the ability to optimally handle frequent changes in priorities, deadlines, and workload.
  • Communication and Influence. You have strong communication skills, including the ability to communicate expertly and concisely (in writing and verbally) complex legal and business issues in plain-English with senior staff both inside and outside the company.
  • Ability to Positively Disrupt. You are a change agent who can clearly articulate issues with outdated methodologies, broken processes or inefficient ways of doing things and their repercussions in a constructive manner and take full ownership of identifying and implementing better, more innovative ways of doing things.
  • Critical Thinking. You have a track record of conducting a careful and thoughtful analysis of complex legal and business agreements and the ability to weigh and articulate the risk and reward of various scenarios in a business-friendly manner.
  • Organizational Abilities. You have well-developed organizational and prioritization abilities allowing for the smooth and simultaneous management of multiple projects with complex and demanding deadlines.
  • Relationship Management and Customer Centricity. You are a relationship builder. Whether it's forming relationships with customers, clients, support team members, suppliers, or partners, you demonstrate an ability to build credibility, advocate, influence and become a trusted adviser to help achieve the goals of Cisco and our customers. You approach your work with a healthy dose of customer centricity appropriate to the situation, meaning you remember to always keep a pragmatic focus on what helps Cisco best address the needs of our Service Provider customers.

Minimum Qualifications
  • JD degree and Bar admission in any jurisdiction with good standing, with 5+ years of relevant experience at a law firm and/or in-house.
  • Legal experience in software and cloud services industries.
  • Detailed knowledge of commercial, contract and business law. Knowledge of intellectual property and data protection law.
  • Complex contract negotiation and drafting skills, with the ability to discuss issues in a clear and simple manner both in writing and orally for a broad range of issues and contracts, including but not limited to licensing, warranties, indemnities, and limitations of liability.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience and familiarity with data privacy such as GDPR, CCPA, and other privacy laws, as well as as-a-service offerings.
  • Understanding of and experience applying revenue recognition and other financial principles common to a US-based publicly traded company.
  • CIPP/E certification is a plus.
