Job summary

nVent in Minneapolis seeks an experienced finance leader to own the month-end close across multiple entities, ensuring accurate reporting and strong internal controls. You will manage intercompany accounting, journal entries, and balance sheets, while supporting audits and global policy adherence.

You will partner with FP&A to budget for Global Controllership and lead a high-performing accounting team, driving process improvements and automation. A CPA and public company experience are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; CPA preferred.
  • 8+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including public company experience preferred, along with 4+ years of people leadership experience.
  • Strong foundation in corporate accounting, financial reporting, and general ledger management.
  • Advanced knowledge of U.S. GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting requirements.
  • Experience working with large ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle, as well as financial consolidation and close management applications such as OneStream.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision‑making skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Highly collaborative leadership style with excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and commitment to accuracy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, and equivalent business productivity tools.

Responsibilities

  • Lead month-end close activities across multiple corporate entities to ensure timely, accurate, and complete financial reporting.
  • Oversee intercompany accounting processes, ensuring payroll, insurance, and other shared expenses are appropriately allocated across legal entities.
  • Review and approve journal entries and account reconciliations and perform monthly balance sheet and income statement reviews to support a strong close process, financial accuracy, and meaningful variance analysis.
  • Manage accounting for areas involving a higher degree of complexity, including stock-based compensation, insurance reserves, acquisition-related accounting, and complex accruals.
  • Serve as the primary finance representative for the insurance captive and nVent Foundation entities, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders and ensuring timely and accurate reporting deliverables.
  • Partner with Enterprise FP&A to develop and manage budgets for Global Controllership and Enterprise Leadership functions, including monthly reporting, forecasting, and performance reviews.
  • Lead, coach, and develop accounting team members, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Support internal and external audits, SOX compliance activities, and adherence to global accounting policies, controls, and reporting requirements.
  • Leverage technology and automation to drive process improvements, strengthen internal controls, and enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of accounting operations.
  • Build strong partnerships with department leaders, business partners, and international accounting teams to support business objectives and ensure alignment across the organization.

Pay Transparency nVent’s pay scale is based on the expected range of base pay for this job and the employee’s work location. Employee pay within this range will be based on a combination of factors including knowledge, skills, abilities, experience, education, and performance. Where federal, state, or local minimum wage requirements exist, employee pay will comply. Compensation Range: $105,000.00 - $195,000.00 Depending on the position offered, employee may be eligible for other forms of compensation, such as annual incentives.
