Job summary

CFS is seeking a Corporate Accountant for its growing accounting team in the Shelton Area, CT. This full-time, hybrid role reports to the Controller and offers broad responsibilities across general ledger, month-end close, financial reporting, and reconciliations.

You will partner with leadership, identify inefficiencies, and help improve accounting processes. Growth potential to advance within the organization is available.

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years of accounting experience preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
• Strong corporate accounting experience and solid GL, journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and month-end close.

Responsibilities

• Perform general ledger accounting, journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close.
• Support financial reporting and account analysis.
• Assist with AP, AR, billing, and collections as needed.
• Prepare reconciliations and ensure accuracy of financial records.
• Support annual audits and provide requested documentation.
• Assist with process improvements and accounting initiatives.
• Partner with Controller and leadership.
• Identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements to existing processes.

About The Corporate Accountant Opportunity

Our client is looking to add a Corporate Accountant to its growing accounting and finance team. This is a newly created position reporting directly to the Controller and offers the opportunity to take on a broad range of accounting responsibilities while gaining exposure to leadership. The Corporate Accountant will play an important role in day-to-day accounting operations, month-end close, financial reporting, and account reconciliations. They are looking for someone who can hit the ground running, identify inefficiencies, and help improve existing accounting processes. There is also strong growth potential for someone looking to take the next step in their accounting career.

Corporate Accountant Responsibilities

• Solid understanding of GL accounting, journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and month-end close
• Exposure to AP, AR, financial reporting, and audit support
• Strong Excel skills
• Experience with ERP/accounting systems
• Proactive personality with the ability to work independently and take ownership of responsibilities
