Job summary

Cursor is hiring a Software Engineer to own the critical backend services that sit between product surfaces and the infrastructure layer, including auth, webhooks, and agent workflows. You’ll design scalable auth architectures, power the agent backend, and build robust webhook servers with observability for high-throughput delivery.

You should have strong fundamentals in production services, experience with OAuth/JWT/RBAC, and a passion for reliability and performance in multi-step systems.

Qualifications

• Experience building and operating critical backend services, especially auth systems, API gateways, or webhook infrastructure.
• Strong opinions on reliability and performance of complex multi-step systems.
• Ability to design clean abstractions and well-defined service contracts for other engineers.
• Experience with authentication/authorization frameworks (OAuth, JWTs, RBAC), event-driven architectures.
