Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Medical Technologist to join our Laboratory Services team. The role performs a variety of tests across major lab areas, ensuring accurate results and maintaining instrument and log integrity.

Candidates should have a bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, LIS experience preferred, and at least three years of related lab experience. Certification is valued, with CLIA high-complexity eligibility required.

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent in Medical Technology
• ASCP MT certification preferred
• Three years of related laboratory experience required
• Experience with LIS systems is a plus
• Must qualify as a CLIA high-complexity supervisor under 42 CFR 493.1461

Responsibilities

• Performs a variety of laboratory tests and reports data for the use in diagnosis and treatment of patients.
• Operates and maintains instrumentation and ensures proper maintenance logs.
• Ensures test results are accurate and follows up on questionable results.
• Restocks supplies and maintains equipment workspace.
• Performs start-up procedures at the beginning of each shift and conducts routine quality control.
• Demonstrates autonomy, professionalism, and problem-solving abilities.
• May concentrate in Blood Bank, Chemistry, Hematology, Immunology, or Microbiology.

Skills

Three years of related experience

LIS experience a plus

Education

Bachelor's degree or successful completion of an accredited four-year school of Medical Technology

ASCP certification as MT preferred
