Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Respiratory Care Practitioner I to join our COPD navigator team in Illinois. You will provide individualized inpatient education on COPD, inhaler technique, oxygen use, and symptom recognition, helping patients understand their care plan and prepare for discharge.

You will conduct follow-up calls, support remote patient monitoring, review reported symptoms, escalate concerns per protocol, and collaborate with physicians, nursing, case management, and pulmonary

Qualifications

• Graduate of an Accredited Respiratory Therapy Program.
• Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).
• Active or Pending Illinois Respiratory Care License.
• Basic Life Support (BLS).

Responsibilities

• Competent in all adult med/surg units with respiratory therapies and modalities.
• Deliver and assess response to ordered therapy; adjust frequencies as needed.
• Monitor, record and communicate patient condition to the healthcare team.
• Educate patients and families on respiratory disease management and resources.
• Respond to clinical emergencies and participate in rounds.
• Precept students and model teamwork consistent with NM Code of Professionalism.
