Job summary

Texas State University is seeking a Coordinator for Student Staffing to support recruitment, hiring, and onboarding of Resident Assistants across fall, spring, and summer terms. You’ll assist the Assistant Director for Staff Recruitment, coordinate RA applications, interviews, offers, and onboarding activities.

You’ll also manage records, background checks, and GPA verifications while collaborating with campus partners.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required in higher education administration or related field.
  • 1 year of full-time work experience in student housing.
  • Preferred: Master’s Degree in Higher Education administration or related field.
  • Experience with retention and student success programming.
  • Experience managing large-scale staff recruitment and hiring processes.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with planning and coordinating the RA selection process including marketing, communication, application process, interviews, and offers/rejections.
  • Oversee scheduling, communication, and logistics for each RA recruitment cycle (Fall, Spring, Summer).
  • Collaborate to manage RA vacancies and candidate waitlists throughout the academic year.
  • Help develop RA onboarding experiences including Information Sessions and Kickoff.
  • Maintain records of applications, performance history, and rosters for undergraduate RA staff.
  • Manage background, conduct, and GPA checks for all RAs.

Job Description

The Coordinator for Student Staffing will work to support recruitment efforts throughout the fall, spring, and summer semesters for Resident Assistants (RAs) within Housing and Residential Life. The primary role of this position is to provide support to the Assistant Director for Staff Recruitment. The coordinator will be responsible for managing the undergraduate recruitment, hiring, and re-hiring processes for new and returning candidates. The Student Staffing Coordinator will assist in developing and implementing a comprehensive onboarding experience for RA staff, including RA Information Sessions and RA Kickoff.

Job Duties
RA STAFF RECRUITMENT
  • Assist with planning and coordinating the RA selection process which includes, marketing/advertising, communication, application process, interviews, offers/rejections, alternate RA, and RA Kick-off.
  • Assist with selection for each RA recruitment cycle (Fall, Spring, and Summer), including overseeing scheduling, communication, and logistics.
  • Collaborate with Assistant Director for Staff Recruitment to manage RA vacancies and candidate waitlists throughout academic year.
  • Assist the Assistant Director for Staff Recruitmentin the creation of processes and initiatives related to RA selection.
  • Maintain records of application, performance history, and roster for all undergraduate RA staff.
  • Manage background checks, student conduct checks, and GPA checks for all current and incoming RAs.
ADMINISTRATION
  • Schedule meetings, book rooms, and manage logistics such as A/V needs, catering, etc.
  • Manage the scheduling, preparation, logistics, and facilitation of special events/programs and meetings.
  • Oversee the uniform/t-shirt/name badge ordering, distribution, and inventory for RA staff.
  • Submit requests for and maintain records of the following: background checks, student conduct checks, and GPA checks for all RAs.
  • Manage and respond to internal and external emails through the to the Resident Assistant Email account in a timely manner, keeping confidentiality as needed.
ONBOARDING & TRAINING
  • Assist with creating presentations and facilitating training sessions for various levels of staff regarding staff recruitment, selection, and onboarding processes.
  • Design, execute, and assess student staff training and onboarding initiatives.
  • Assist with developing, disseminating, and training on RA recruitment procedures for the department of Housing and Residential Life.
DEPARTMENTAL AND DIVISIONAL PARTNERSHIPS
  • Serve as a liaison with campus stakeholders within student employment and leadership opportunities within the Division of Student Success.
  • Collaborate with a variety of campus partners including: the Office of Admissions, the Career Center, Student Involvement and Engagement, and Student Health among others.
  • Contribute to and actively participate in strategic planning, unit goal setting, data/assessment efforts, and determining community staffing priorities and initiatives.
