  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university and two years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Demonstrated advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point), Adobe, and databases.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in related field.
  • Experience with government and private contracts and grants administration in either a university or non-profit setting.
  • Experience with preparation and review of budgets and proposals for grants and contracts in fiscal grant management and enterprise management systems.
  • Certified Research Administrator ( CRA ) credential.
  • Extensive knowledge of the Code of Federal Regulations ( CFR ) and the Federal Acquisition Regulation ( FAR ).
  • Experience planning events for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience with Texas State University Research Programs and systems including Cayuse, Workday, SAP and Kuali.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple proposal deadlines and competing priorities.
  • Experience providing direct customer service and support to faculty and research personnel.

The Research Coordinator will assist in proposal and budget development, and contract and grant submissions. They will coordinate statement of work, budget, and proposal reviews and approvals upload documents in proposal submission platforms, guide faculty through the proposal process, work with researchers to build accurate and compliant budgets, ensure submissions meet institutional and sponsor requirements, and offer assistance and guidance on using submission platforms and research management systems. Schedule submission planning team project meeting. Serve as the primary information and problem-solving resource for faculty and staff. Share research news with leadership and marketing. Current open positions will primarily serve the College of Education and the Colleges of Science and Engineering but will also serve PIs from other colleges as needed.

Job Duties

  • Serve as primary point of contact and project manager for faculty during proposal development.
  • Coordinate proposal and submission development timelines and internal deadlines.
  • Coordinate submission planning meetings and facilitate communication among project team members.
  • Coordinate collection of submission components from investigators to ensure timely submission.
  • Provide preliminary review of submission materials prior to institutional review.
  • Initiate proposal and submission routing in the institutional proposal management system as needed.
  • Assist faculty through the grant submission process and coordinate external funding.
  • Develop budgets and budget justifications in accordance with university policies, grantor guidelines, and uniform guidance.
  • Upload documents in proposal platforms as needed.
  • Review and circulate program announcements or solicitations for new funding opportunities to faculty and research staff.
  • Prepare assistive materials for research teams, including faculty and staff.
  • Manage electronic records in the research management system.
  • Apply University policies and sponsor guidelines to minimize risk and protect the University, faculty, and research staff from liability.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with all stakeholders, including sponsors, agencies, faculty, staff, administrators, and other academic units.
  • Provide leadership with research news and activity data.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
