Position Summary

The Certified Pool Operator is responsible for ensuring the safe,clean, and efficient operation of the Student Recreation Centeraquatic facilities in compliance with Oregon Health Authority (OHA)Public Aquatic Facility Rules and OSHA regulations. This rolemaintains proper water quality, oversees sanitation of the pools,spa, and surrounding areas, and performs routine and preventativemaintenance on pumps, motors, filtration, chlorination, pH control,and UV systems. The position manages inventory of chemicals andequipment, coordinates annual maintenance activities duringscheduled building closures relating to aquatics facilities, andensures mechanical spaces remain organized and safe.
The Certified Pool Operator conducts regular safety inspections,documents maintenance activities, and promptly addresses orisolates hazards. The role also involves coordinating with vendors,university facilities staff, and contractors for repairs or specialprojects.
This position, in collaboration with leadership in the Aquaticsarea, will schedule, train, and supervise student employees whoassist with deep cleaning and maintenance during academicbreaks.

Minimum Requirements

• One year of experience as a maintenance or general laborer.
• Special requirements for this position include a Certified PoolOperator certification or Aquatic Facility Operator certification.

Preferred Qualifications

• Two (2) years of Aquatic Facility operations of commercial poolswith more than 50,000 gallons and multiple bodies of water.
• Two (2) years of experience maintaining commercial spas.
