Position Summary

The Coordinator of the Center of Academic Support and Student Success (CASSS) serve as a key member of the student success leadership team and supports the planning, implementation, coordination, and assessment of programs designed to improve student retention, persistence, engagement, and academic success. This position provides operational leadership for academic support initiatives, oversees assigned student success programs, coordinates retention efforts, assists with disability accommodations, supervises tutoring and peer mentoring services, and supports data-driven student intervention strategies.

The coordinator works collaboratively with faculty, staff, and campus partners to identify barriers to student success and develop comprehensive support services that promote student achievement. This position serves as a bridge between entry-level staff and senior leadership and exercises independent judgment in managing programs and student success initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Student Success and Retention
  • Coordinate university retention and persistence initiatives designed to improve student success outcomes.
  • Monitor and manage academic alerts, early intervention programs, and student outreach efforts.
  • Utilize student success technologies and institutional data to identify at‑risk students and develop intervention plans.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of retention policies, procedures, and strategic initiatives.
  • Conduct outreach campaigns related to academic standing, attendance concerns, and student engagement.
Program Coordination and Management
  • Coordinate daily operations of academic support programs, including tutoring, peer mentoring, study skills workshops, and academic coaching services.
  • Assist with planning, implementation, and assessment of first-year and sophomore student success programs.
  • Support the administration of disability services and accommodation processes in compliance with ADA guidelines.
  • Coordinate student success events, workshops, and educational programming.
  • Manage program schedules, service utilization tracking, and assessment activities.
Data Collection and Reporting
  • Collect, maintain, and analyze student success and retention data.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and recommendations for university leadership.
  • Monitor program effectiveness using qualitative and quantitative assessment methods.
  • Maintain accurate student records and documentation while ensuring compliance with FERPA regulations.
Collaboration and Leadership
  • Collaborate with academic departments and student support offices to enhance student success initiatives.
  • Serve on university committees related to retention, student support, and academic success.
  • Train and provide guidance to student workers, tutors, peer mentors, and other assigned personnel.
  • Represent CASSS at institutional events, orientations, recruitment activities, and community engagements.
  • Assist the Director with special projects, strategic planning initiatives, and departmental operations.
Other Duties
  • Advise and assist students regarding academic resources and support services.
  • Remain current on best practices in academic advising, retention, and student success.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of CASSS and Career Services.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of student development, retention, and academic success practices.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and prepare reports for decision‑making.
  • Experience working with diverse student populations.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of FERPA, ADA, and students support best practices.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and student information systems.
  • Strong problem‑solving and critical‑thinking abilities.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Experience in academic advising, student success, retention services, higher education administration, or related field.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Counseling, Education, Social Work, or related field.
  • Experience with Banner, EAB Navigate, Ellucian, Degree Works, or similar systems.
  • Supervisory or program coordination experience.
  • Experience supporting students with disabilities.
  • Demonstrated experience with data analysis and student retention initiatives.
