Job Summary

The Coordinator, Music Technology coordinates the day-to-day musictechnology resources, equipment, and operations within the BowerSchool of Music. The position participates in the development andimplementation of music technology programs and is responsible forthe recording, livestreaming, and archiving of performances,concerts, and other School of Music events.

Job Description

Typical duties may include but are not limited to:

• Coordinates and manages the operations and functionality of therecital and rehearsal halls recording sessions and equipment.
• Coordinates the music technology needs of School of Musicfaculty in classes, choir, orchestra, band, and/or opera.
• Provides music technology resources for performances andauditions as required.
• Assists with the development of introductory level musictechnology courses.
• Monitors and complies with all fiscal expenditures andguidelines in accordance with university policies andprocedures.
• Coordinates, trains, and schedules part-time OPS staff for themusic instruction lab and concert or recital hall recordings,including back-of-house management.
• Serves as instructor of record in fall and spring semesters forMUS 1360 Introduction to Music Technology (one credit), teaching upto one credit per semester.
• Participates in the planning and development of musictechnology, resources and curriculum as appropriate to departmentneeds.
• Records audio, video, and streaming of performances including:music pre and post-production of student recitals, music ensembleperformances, Nisita Series concerts, faculty recitals, and/orstudent auditions or competitions.
• Collaborates with videographer to coordinate video and audiorecording processes, including: file editing, preparing "timing"files, and the "good" audio files for professional streaming.

Other Duties:

• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
• Assists with and coordinates live performances acrosscampus.

Required Qualifications:

• This position requires a Master's degree from an accreditedinstitution in an appropriate area of specialization.

• Experience operating personal computers with proficiency inMicrosoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)software.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's Degree from an accredited institution in MusicTechnology, or closely related field.
• Work experience in higher education music program.
• Demonstrated experience with current trends and technologies,including music software and recording programs.

• Strong interpersonal skills and experience working effectivelyacross teams

• Knowledge of recording and post-production techniques,electronic music synthesis, musical acoustics, digital and analogelectronics, and electronics and recording technology.
• Knowledge of trends on applications of music technology inhigher education.
• Knowledge of, and ability to operate basic theatrical lightingand lighting systems.
• Knowledge of music technology applications considered as bestpractice for applied music instruction and for classroomenvironments.
• Excellent organizational skills and an ability to prioritizeand complete simultaneous projects within deadlines.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communicationskills.
• Ability to consult with faculty and students on best practicein music technology as it relates to music composition,orchestration, and arranging in higher education.
• Ability to evaluate current uses of music technology indegree-specific programs, including recommendations that lead toprogram enhancement.
