Job summary

Lone Star College invites applications for the Coordinator III, Budget to oversee day-to-day and select long-term operations within Business Operations, providing analytical support and handling financial activities across campus. Works with Budget Manager on projects and monthly financial tasks.

Responsibilities include managing A/P, A/R, journals, direct pay, and procurement; maintaining compliance with policies and regulations; training staff and supporting grant-related finances.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required and at least 1 year of experience or an equivalent combination.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and PeopleSoft.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily and some long-term operations of campus finance department including accounts payable, accounts receivable, journals, direct pay requests, and procurement.
  • Develop, monitor, and maintain spreadsheets, databases, reports; present findings to stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and LSC policies; provide guidance on grants.
  • Supervise, train, and develop staff; schedule and prioritize work; develop training materials.
  • Assist Budget Manager with month-end close and other financial/budget tasks.
  • Prepare, review, and reconcile journal entries and general ledger accounts, including campus budget journals.
  • Monitor campus costs and budgets; compile data and analyze for internal constituents.
  • Assist in delivering presentations, trainings, and information sessions.
  • Monitor and control department resources; process requisitions and purchase requests per budget.
  • Lead special projects as needed; perform other related duties.

Job Description
PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

The Coordinator III, Budget provides oversight and facilitation ofday-to-day and some long-term operations within Business Operationsby providing analytical and operational support, and by performingfinancial and budget activities. Assigned area and responsibilitieswill be extensive and/or highly specialized. Maintains compliancewith LSC policies and procedures and local, state, and federalregulations. Works collaboratively across LSC campus and campusBudget Manager to partner on various special projects and monthlyfinancial or budget operations. Makes and communicates processdecisions based on best practices.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  1. Oversees daily and some long-term operations of campus financedepartment including but not limited to accounts payable, accountsreceivable, journals, direct pay request, and procurement. Activelymaintains up-to-date knowledge of area and acts as a Subject MatterExpert within area and as a point of contact and liaison forinternal and external constituents
  2. Performs research relevant to area of specialty. Develops,monitors, and maintains a variety of spreadsheets, databases,reports, and presents findings to internal/externalconstituents
  3. May be responsible for ensuring and maintaining compliance withlocal, state, and federal regulations as well as audit compliancewith LSC policies and procedures. Provides financial andprocurement support and guidance to internal constituents on campusassigned grants, which can be local, state or federally funded
  4. Supervises, trains, and develops staff. Schedules andprioritizes work and activities and develops and organizes trainingmaterials
  5. May be responsible for assisting Budget Manager with month-endclose and other financial/budget related obligations
  6. Prepares, reviews and reconciles a variety of journal entriesand general ledger accounts, including campus budget journals andmiscellaneous journal entries
  7. Monitors campus costs and budgets, compiles information,analyzes data, provides financial and budget support for internalconstituents, as well as assists Budget Manager as applicable
  8. Assists department in delivery of presentations, trainings andinformation sharing sessions for internal campus constituents
  9. Monitors and controls resources such as office supplies andequipment needed within the department. Submits requisitions and reviews and approves/denies purchase requests in accordance withthe budget
  10. Takes part in and/or leads special projects as needed
  11. Responsible for other reasonable related duties asassigned

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably todo the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending;carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; ordriving an automobile. No special physical demands are required toperform the work.

WORK SCHEDULE & CONDITIONS :
  • Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in aMicrosoft Windows environment, calculator, phone, and other generaloffice equipment
  • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
  • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimalexposure to safety hazards
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree and at least 1 year of experience, or an equivalent combination of experience and education
Salary

Hiring salary range is: $48,152 - $55,375

Lone Star College provides a hiring salary range for all postedfull-time non-faculty positions. Where your salary offer would fallin that range is determined by your related experience andeducation.
