Job summary

Pequot Manufacturing seeks a skilled CMM programmer to develop, create, and modify Coordinate Measuring Machine programs for complex parts. You will analyze engineering problems and create software solutions within the CMM framework to optimize conformance and data handling.

The role requires an Associate's Degree and 3–7 years of related experience, plus strong computer/software aptitude. Machine Tools Technology certification and job shop experience are preferred for this position.

Qualifications

  • Machine Tools Technology or closely related field of study/certification.
  • Job shop manufacturing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and direct CMM software testing and validation procedures, programming, and documentation as it relates to part dimensional verification.
  • Confer with CMM software manufacturer, engineers, programmers and others to obtain information & program software for the verification of part dimensions.
  • Modify existing software to correct errors, adapt to new hardware, or improve performance.
  • Store, retrieve, and manipulate data for analysis and inspection.
  • Analyze user needs and software requirements to determine feasibility of production or design within time and cost constraints.
  • Coordinate software system installation or upgrades and monitor equipment functioning to ensure specifications are met.
  • Train other users to use the CMM equipment; as may be directed from time to time.

POSITION SUMMARY

Develop, create, and modify Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) programs for the measurement of complex, multifeatured parts. Analyze production engineering problems or needs and develop software solutions, using the CMM. Work within the parameters of the CMM software for PTM's use with the aim of optimizing efficiency in determining part specification conformance. May analyze and design databases within an application area, working individually or coordinating database development as part of a team.
