Job summary

H M DUNN COMPANY INC in Wichita, KS seeks a CMM programmer/operator to develop and execute programs for coordinate measuring machines, verify part configurations against drawings and customer specs, and document results.

You will review planning, create programs with PC-DMIS, operate CMM with DCC controls, and support continuous improvement while meeting deadlines; occasional travel may be required.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in shop math and interpreting customer standards.

Responsibilities

  • Compare measurements to drawings and document discrepancies.

Job description

Summary:This position is responsible for writing programs for and operating a Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) to verify that the configuration of manufacture parts meets the customer’s requirements.This position has no supervisory responsibilities.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Review planning, engineering drawings, and digital models to determine proper dimensions and tolerance specifications for specific parts and/or tools to be measuredStart equipment and select program from the available listings, match part/tool identification with computer program, and perform set up operationsPosition and level part / tool on surface plate of CMM taking care not to damage part / tool or the machineActivate digital readout equipment and record specified measurementsCompare measurements to specified dimensions and tolerances noting discrepanciesPerform manual dimensional check as needed to verify questionable resultsDocument all non-conforming conditionsAnalyze data, prepare, and deliver reportsIdentify and participate in continuous improvement projectsCommunicate effectively (verbal and written) with all contactsAccept and adapt easily to changeEnsure that all activities are consistent with Company Mission StatementOperate job-related equipment with or without an accommodationMeet physical demands of job with or without an accommodationPerform other duties as assignedRequirements:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function and assigned task satisfactorily.
