Job summary

Silk Road Technologies Canada seeks a CMM Programmer/Operator to ensure precise measurements and data integrity. You will maintain CMM software and calibration systems, perform layouts, and evaluate data for accuracy to support quality objectives.

Responsibilities include generating reports, coordinating with customers and suppliers, and contributing to continuous improvement within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • Associates/Technical degree or equivalent experience.
  • 0-3 years experience as a CMM programmer/operator in PCDMIS preferred.
  • Experience in calibration methods and use of measuring tools.
  • Technical math skills.
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Ability to read and write in English and perform mathematical calculations.

Responsibilities

  • Support the plant's mission and daily activities.
  • Conduct part layouts and capability studies to meet dimensional requirements.
  • Maintain calibration systems and records (Mainsaver/Gage Trak).
  • Maintain gauges in good working order and annual layout schedules.
  • Evaluate CMM data for accuracy and prepare internal/external reports.
  • Maintain CMM software and interface with customers, vendors and teams.
  • Participate in root cause analyses and quality initiatives.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Provide CMM support to the plant to achieve optimal levels of safety, quality, productivity and delivery to assure internal and external customer satisfaction.

JOB TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Support the Company's mission, vision, values and goals in the performance of daily activities.
  • Conduct part layouts and capability studies to assure parts meet or exceed dimensional requirements of the customer.
  • Maintain the calibration systems in Mainsaver/Gage Trak system.
  • Maintain calibration and certification records.
  • Maintain gauges in good working order.
  • Establish and maintain annual part/gauge layout schedules.
  • Evaluate CMM data for accuracy, prior to submission.
  • Prepare reports for internal and external customers and interface as appropriate.
  • Maintain CMM & CMM software in good working order.
  • Participate in team problem solving activities.
  • Provide CMM data for sample part submission.
  • Interface with customers, contractors and suppliers as appropriate.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and team problem solving activities (ex. 8D reports, department meetings, etc.).
  • Support plant activities towards achieving customer awards and Quality Registrations (ex. TS 16949, ISO 14001, Pentastar, etc.)
  • Assist with plant activities to achieve quality, productivity and cost reduction goals.
  • Comply with all internal and OSHA required safety procedures while performing daily work activities.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping in work area.
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with all areas of the organization.
  • Adherence to all company policies and procedures (ex. Quality Policy Manual, Colleague Handbook, Level II Procedures etc.)
LEADERSHIP/SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ability to identify, select, train and coach quality talent.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • Associates/Technical degree or equivalent experience.
  • Zero to three (3) years experience as a CMM programmer/operator in PCDMIS preferred.
REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES
  • Experience in calibration methods and use of measuring tools.
  • Technical math skills.
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Ability to read and write in English and perform mathematical calculations.
PREFERRED ADDITIONAL SKILLS & ABILITIES
  • General knowledge of Quality Systems (i.e.; SPC, ISO/TS 16949 etc.)
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical and communication skills.
  • Root cause/ problem solving ability.
  • Good understanding of GD&T.
  • Ability to work well with others in a fast paced team environment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS, WORK ENVIRONMENT AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Duties include but are not limited to stand, walk, twist, bend, lift, see, talk and hear, with an ability to travel. When visiting plant site locations, employees may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, vibration or hazardous materials.
