Job summary

Apple Rehab Saybrook is seeking a Cook Supervisor to lead the dietary team in our 100-bed skilled nursing and rehabilitation community in Old Saybrook, CT. The role involves supervising kitchen staff, preparing meals to residents’ dietary needs, and coordinating with the Dietary Manager on planning and events.

We offer flexible scheduling with part-time weekends and full-time evenings; a sign-on bonus of $1,000 is available.

Qualifications

• Must hold Serv Safe Manager certification.
• Must be able to unload and stock groceries and lift items up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to read, write and understand English, perform simple math calculations, measure and record data.
• Attention to detail, good follow through skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
• Ability to supervise and instruct others.
• Previous hospital or long term care facility experience preferred.
• Demonstrates cooperation and teamwork.
• Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
• Professional communication with residents, staff and family members.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise dietary personnel, ensuring adherence to established policies and procedures.
• Collaborate with the Dietary Manager to oversee work assignments and performance evaluations.
• Step in for the manager in their absence and manage the department accordingly.
• Prepare and serve meals per residents' dietary needs, and participate in production planning, purchasing and equipment management.
• Contribute to events and facility-wide planning with the Dietary Manager.
