Job summary

Amity Foundation in Los Angeles is seeking a dedicated Cook for the Amistad project. You will be responsible for preparing meals on schedule, upholding sanitation, nutrition, and safety standards, and following recipes to maintain quality and cost control.

You will work with the Food Service Manager to plan, prepare, and present three meals daily for the program, assist in food ordering and storage, and help train students in cooking, dining etiquette, and daily hygiene.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• 1 year culinary experience or training.
• Current state driver’s license.
• ServeSafe Certification.
• Lift up to 50 lbs.
• Maintain ethical values and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and present three balanced meals daily for the program.
• Assist in ordering and storing food meeting CDPH/LA County standards.
• Follow the monthly rotation menu.
• Maintain high standards in the dining room and kitchen.
• Train students in cooking, food prep, and hygiene.
• Attend Community Building day activities.
• Follow the community schedule and serve meals on time.
• Take on additional duties as assigned.
