We have an opening for seasonal COOK positions.

Location: CVC Cafe - 441 2nd & D Streets, Washington, DC 20515. Note: online applications accepted only.

Schedule: Seasonal schedule, Tuesday through Saturday. Hours may vary; more details upon interview.

Requirement: Previous culinary experience and education are preferred but not required.

Pay Rate: $25.00 per hour.

Job Summary

Prepares food according to federal, state, and corporate standards, guidelines, and regulations, ensuring quality food service at all times.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Prepares high-quality food items according to recipes and instructions to meet production and service schedules.
2. Serves meals or prepares for delivery, ensuring proper portioning, temperature, presentation, and taste. Tastes all prepared food items.
3. Uses established ticket collection procedures during service; responsible for records from the area worked.
4. Maintains cleanliness of the kitchen after preparation and serving; stores or discards excess food per safety procedures.
5. Keeps refrigerators and storerooms clean and organized; ensures proper storage of food and supplies.
6. Operates and maintains kitchen equipment as instructed.
7. Assists in production planning, record keeping, and reporting.
8. Assists in ordering and receiving food and supplies.
9. Reports maintenance issues, faulty equipment, or accidents immediately.
10. Attends in-service and safety meetings.
11. Maintains positive working relationships with coworkers, customers, and management.
12. Performs job safely, maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
13. Performs other duties as assigned.
14. Ensures proper presentation, portion control, and maintenance of serving temperatures; follows HACCP standards.
15. Prioritizes safety for yourself and others.
16. Follows all company policies, including the use of gloves, oven mitts, slip-resistant shoes, and proper lifting techniques.
