Job summary

Westminster St. Augustine, a Westminster Communities of Florida Life Plan Community, is seeking a Cook Assistant I to prepare and serve quality food for residents, guests and staff.

This full-time position involves limited hot and cold food prep under supervision, with opportunities to assist cooks and maintain kitchen standards. The role requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and Florida SafeStaff certification or ability to obtain within 90 days.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent, Florida SafeStaff certification required or ability to obtain certification within 90 days of hire.
• Experience: Minimum 12 months experience in a full-service culinary setting.
• Requirements: Read, write and speak English; basic math; basic knife handling; ability to fill in for cook as needed.
• Physical & Environmental: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs; standing and other physical activities.

Responsibilities

• Performs limited hot food preparation under direct supervision of the cook.
• Performs cold food preparation including salads and sandwiches.
• Distributes prepared food to all areas of service and restocks as needed.
