Job summary

Westminster Winter Park, a not-for-profit Active Living Community, is seeking an Assistant Cook for a full-time role. You will prepare salads, cold sandwiches and pantry items under the supervision of a cook for residents, guests and employees.

The role requires basic food prep skills, a High School Diploma, ServSafe certification or ability to obtain within 90 days, and at least 12 months in a culinary setting. We emphasize safety, sanitation and customer service.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Florida Serv Safe certification required or ability to obtain certification within 90 days of date of hire.
• A minimum of 12 months experience in a full service culinary setting.

Responsibilities

• Perform limited hot food preparation under the direct supervision of the cook in accordance with standardized recipes.
• Perform cold food preparation including salads and sandwiches under the guidance of the cook.
• Distribute prepared food to all areas of service and restock items as needed.
• Maintain station cleanliness, safety and organization at all times.
• Assist with kitchen cleaning, sanitation and organization of equipment.
• Experience with POS Systems.
• Provide excellent customer service to residents, guests and staff.

Westminster Winter Park, a beautiful lakeside Active Living Community in Winter Park has an open position for an Assistant Cook, Full Time. We are a not-for-profit community service organization dedicated and committed to providing services for older adults.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Prepares and serves quality food including salads, cold sandwiches and pantry items using quality ingredients for residents, guests and employees. May prepare hot food

items under the instruction of a cook.

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:

Comply with all applicable rules, policies, standards and guidelines related to employment withWestminster Communities.

1. Performs limited hot food preparation under the direct supervision of the cook in accordance standardized recipes.

2. Performs cold food preparation under the guidance of the cook in accordance standardized recipes. Includes salads, sandwiches and deserts.

3. Distributes prepared food to all areas of service accurately and consistent in preparation and presentation. Restocks items as needed throughout the shift.

4. Cleans and maintains station by practicing good safety, sanitation and organization skills.

5. Assist with the cleaning, sanitation and organization of the kitchen and equipment.

6. Experience with POS Systems

7. Excellent Customer Service Skills

Education:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Florida Serv Safe certification required or ability to obtain certification within 90 days of date of hire.

Experience:

• Full understanding of basic food preparation methods and cooking techniques in quantity food production.
• A minimum of 12 months experience in a full service culinary setting.

Requirements:

Ability to read, write and speak the English language and understand and follow written and oral directions.

Ability to perform basic math skills.

Basic knife handling skills.

Ability to fill in for cook as needed on a temporary basis
