Summary

Prepares, assembles baked goods, cooks, seasons, and portions food for patients, staff, and visitors of the designated facility, preparing and serving food within guidelines of menu and dietary requirements.

Job Description

• Adheres to food quality standards of appearance, taste, temperature, and sanitation.
• Performs washing and cleaning duties to ensure sanitation and cleanliness in cooking and serving areas.
• Maintains labeling and storage of food, equipment, and machinery.
• Prepares and provides the highest quality and safest food possible to patients, co-workers, team members, and guests.
• Communicates effectively with internal customers and works well in a team environment.
• Follows standardized recipes and HACCP guidelines to prepare, store, and use food and food products.
• Documents HACCP steps, temperatures, and outcomes to ensure food safety.
• Operates kitchen equipment such as mixers, slicers, ovens, fryers, knives, dishwashers, refrigerators, and freezers.
• Works independently as needed and demonstrates understanding of food safety and sanitation processes.
• Displays proficiency in basic math and reading recipes.
• Must be able to stand for long periods and walk significant distances within the hospital.

Qualifications

No formal education required; a GED or high school diploma is desirable. Prior experience in quantity cooking is preferred. Ability to read and communicate effectively in writing.
