Job description

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Prepares food, sauces, and cold sandwiches for service, including tasks such as chopping vegetables, using a commercial meat slicer, and preparing sauces. Also responsible for cooking breakfast sandwiches.
  2. Ensures timely preparation of all food items for service.
  3. Communicates effectively with team members and supervisors.
  4. Maintains cleanliness and organization of their station throughout preparation and service.
  5. Ability to multitask in a high-volume environment while producing quality food and maintaining composure.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in food preparation.
  • Qualifying Certificate in Food Protection (NYC Food Handlers) is encouraged but not required.

Supervisory Responsibility: None

Work Environment:

Diverse, fast-paced, deadline-driven environment requiring multi-project coordination, prioritization, and flexibility to accommodate last-minute requests and changes.

Physical Demands:

Regularly requires talking, hearing, and the use of hands to handle objects, tools, or controls. Must be able to stand, walk, sit, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Occasionally lift/move objects up to 30 pounds.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Minimum 6 months prior experience as a cook.
  • Knowledge of kitchen sanitation, operation, and maintenance of kitchen equipment.
  • Basic food preparation techniques.
  • Familiarity with all kitchen operations.

Salary range: $16.50 - $18.50 per hour.
