Job summary

Colonial Gardens is seeking a part-time Cook who enjoys preparing delicious meals, working with a team, and delivering a welcoming dining experience for residents.

You'll help prepare and serve fresh, appealing meals, follow safety standards, and contribute to high-quality service in a compassionate environment. The role emphasizes teamwork, proper grooming, and adherence to dress requirements, with opportunities for advancement.

Qualifications

• Current ServSafe certificate or ability to participate in training to become ServSafe certified.
• High School diploma or GED accepted.
• Culinary apprenticeship or training preferred.
• 1 year of related food preparation experience.
• Must be 16 years or older (18 if operating power-driven machines in NC).
• 3 years of experience in a healthcare, hospitality or service environment preferred.
• Culinary arts experience preferred.
• CPR & First-Aid certifications preferred.
• Ability to work in an environment caring for residents and in a team setting.

Responsibilities

• Prepare palatable foods that are appetizing in appearance.
• Knowledge of safety and sanitary requirements.
• Learn basic tasks and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Be pleasant, friendly and helpful at all times to ensure proper and timely service.

Requirements

• Maintains a current ServSafe certificate (food services sanitation certificate) or able to participate in the food services sanitation training to become ServSafe certified
• High School diploma or GED accepted
• A culinary apprenticeship or training is preferred
• One (1) year job related experience including food preparation, full-line menu items and therapeutic diets
• Must be 16 years or older. In NC, must be 18 years or older if operating power-driven machines such as a meat slicer, mixer, etc
• Three years' experience in a healthcare, hospitality or service environment preferred
• Culinary arts experience preferred
• CPR & First-Aid certifications preferred
• Ability to work in an environment conducive to caring for residents without posing a substantial safety or health threat to self or others
• Ability to work well with others and promote a team environment
