Job summary

Chandler Place Independent Living is seeking a dedicated Cook to prepare and serve fresh, appealing meals. You will help create a welcoming dining experience and work with a team to deliver high-quality service to residents. The role operates 11:00 AM–7:00 PM, with weekends and holidays required.

A ServSafe-type certificate is preferred, and a culinary apprenticeship or training is a plus. Prior healthcare or hospitality experience is valued, with growth opportunities and a benefits package

Qualifications

• Maintains ServSafe certificate or can complete training to become ServSafe certified.
• High School diploma or GED accepted.
• A culinary apprenticeship or training is preferred.
• One year of related experience with menu items and therapeutic diets.
• Three years’ experience in healthcare, hospitality or service environment preferred.
• Culinary arts experience preferred.
• CPR & First-Aid certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintains a current ServSafe certificate (food services sanitation certificate) or able to participate in the food services sanitation training to become ServSafe certified
• High School diploma or GED accepted
• A culinary apprenticeship or training is preferred
• One (1) year job related experience including food preparation, full-line menu items and therapeutic diets
• Must be 16 years or older. In NC, must be 18 years or older if operating power-driven machines such as a meat slicer, mixer, etc.
• Three years’ experience in a healthcare, hospitality or service environment preferred
• Culinary arts experience preferred
• CPR & First-Aid certifications preferred
• Ability to work in an environment conducive to caring for residents without posing a substantial safety or health threat to self or others
• Ability to work well with others and promote a team environment
