Job description

Job Title: Cook

Location: Novant Health Medical Park Hospital - 1950 South Hawthorne Road, Winston Salem, NC 27103. Note: online applications accepted only.

Schedule: Part-time; every other Monday, 10:15 am to 6:15 pm, Friday, 5:00 am to 1:15 pm, and weekend, 7:00 am to 5:30 pm. More details upon interview.

Requirement: Prior cooking experience required.

Pay Rate: $17.00 per hour.

Job Summary

Summary: Prepare food according to federal, state, and corporate standards, ensuring quality service at all times.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Prepare high-quality food items following recipes and instructions.
  2. Serve meals or prepare for delivery, ensuring proper portioning, temperature, and presentation. Taste all prepared food.
  3. Use established procedures during service; maintain records from your area.
  4. Clean kitchen after preparation, store or discard excess food safely.
  5. Keep refrigerators and storerooms clean and organized.
  6. Operate and maintain kitchen equipment.
  7. Assist in production planning, record keeping, and ordering supplies.
  8. Report maintenance issues or accidents immediately.
  9. Attend safety and in-service meetings.
  10. Maintain good relationships with coworkers and supervisors.
  11. Follow safety standards, including HACCP, and use protective equipment.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned.
Safety and Policies
  • Use gloves when handling knives and slicers; use oven mitts or gloves for hot items.
  • Wear slip-resistant shoes and use proper lifting techniques.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
