  • We are hiring immediately for part-time COOK positions.
  • Location: Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital - 129 North Washington Street, Sumter, SC 29150. Note: online applications accepted only.
  • Schedule: Part-time rotating schedule; hours and days may vary. Weekends required. More details upon interview.
  • Requirement: One year of prior cooking experience is required. Willing to train!
  • Pay Rate: $17.50 per hour.

Job Summary

Summary: Prepares food according to federal, state, and corporate standards, guidelines, and regulations, following established policies and procedures. Ensures quality food service at all times.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Prepares high-quality food items according to standardized recipes and instructions to meet production, delivery, and service schedules.
  • Serves meals or prepares for delivery, ensuring correct portioning, temperature, attractiveness, and taste. Tastes all prepared food items.
  • Uses established ticket collection procedures during service. Maintains records from the area worked during service periods.
  • Cleans kitchen after preparation and serving, maintaining high standards of cleanliness. Stores or discards excess food according to safe food-handling procedures.
  • Keeps refrigerators and storerooms clean and organized. Ensures proper storage of food and supplies.
  • Operates and maintains kitchen equipment as instructed.
  • Assists in production planning, record keeping, and reporting as required.
  • Helps in ordering and receiving food and supplies.
  • Reports maintenance issues, faulty equipment, or accidents immediately to the supervisor.
  • Attends in-service and safety meetings.
  • Maintains good working relationships with coworkers, customers, and management.
  • Performs job safely, maintaining a clean, safe environment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Ensures proper presentation, portion control, and serving temperatures, following HACCP standards.
  • Prioritizes safety for yourself and others.
  • Follows all company policies and procedures, including safety protocols when handling equipment and hot items.
