Job summary

Universal Health Services' Northern Nevada Medical Center in Sparks, NV is seeking a full-time Cook for an evening shift, supporting patient, staff, and visitor meals under supervision. The role requires preparing meals per approved recipes and presentation standards.

Qualifications

• One to three (1-3) years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• High school graduate or equivalent.
• ServSafe Certification preferred within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Determines types and quantities of all foods to be prepared by reviewing planned menus and printed tallies.
• Determines foods/supplies/equipment that are low in supply and communicates needs to Director/Supervisor; stores items after delivery.
• Prepares all foods according to approved recipes and to suitable appearance standards with garnishes as appropriate.
• Ensures meals are ready at specified times and coordinates with supervisor regarding leftovers.

Job Summary: This Cook position is fulltime and offers full benefits and a convenient evening shift schedule. This dynamic individual will be under the direct supervision of the Food & Nutrition Services Director, Supervisor, or Lead, the cook performs a variety of patient food service and dish duties. The cook will prepare appropriate food items for hospital patients, staff, and visitors according to recipes.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

• Determines types and quantities of all foods to be prepared by reviewing planned menus and printed tallies.


• Determines foods/supplies/equipment that are low in supply and uses list to communicate to Director/Supervisor. Also assists in putting foods/supplies away appropriately in designated storage area after delivery.


• Prepares all foods according to approved recipes and to suitable appearance standards while using garnishes when appropriate


• Ensures meals are ready at specified times and consults with director/supervisor regarding use of leftover food.
