Job summary

Johns Island Post Acute is seeking a part-time cook to join our team at our 132-bed skilled nursing and rehab facility on Johns Island, SC. The role involves preparing meals, following menus, and maintaining a sanitary kitchen environment.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or equivalent and at least 1 year of cooking experience, preferably in a long-term care or healthcare setting. A drug screen and federal background check will be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1 year of cooking experience preferred, especially in healthcare or long-term care.
• Ability to pass drug screen and federal background check.

Responsibilities

• Maintain kitchen and cooking area in a safe, orderly, clean and sanitary manner.
• Prepare tasteful meals and cook a variety of foods in large quantities.
• Follow prepared menus and portion control guides.
• Prepare special diets accurately.
• Record food temperatures for meals.
• Prepare pureed foods as needed.
• Collaborate with staff across departments to ensure smooth operation.
• Maintain sanitizer buckets and quaternary solution as required.

Essential Duties:

• Maintain kitchen and cooking area in a safe, orderly, clean and sanitary manner.
• Ability to prepare tasteful meals and to cook a variety of foods in large quantities.
• Ability to follow prepared menus and portion control guides.
• Ability to prepare special diets accurately.
• Record food temperatures for the meals.
• Prepare pureed foods.
• Ability to work in cooperation and harmony with personnel in all departments.
• Maintain quaternary solution in sanitizer buckets.

Successful candidates will have the following:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 1 year of experience with cooking, preferably in a Long-Term Care or healthcare setting
• The ability to pass a drug screen & federal background check
