Essential Functions, Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide high-level customer service and promote a restaurant-style dining atmosphere.
  • Collaborate with the Culinary Services Director and/or Executive Director to ensure resident satisfaction with food and dining programs.
  • Assist in supervising culinary staff.
  • Support the preparation and execution of dining enhancement programs.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety in kitchen and food storage areas.
  • Manage opening and/or closing of the kitchen.
  • Follow cleaning schedules as assigned.
  • Ensure food is received, stored, and prepared according to standards.
  • Estimate and communicate needs for food and supplies.
  • Participate in meal preparation and cooking following recipes and menus.
  • Document food temperatures before service and monitor refrigeration and freezer temperatures.
  • Ensure snacks and beverages are available for residents.
  • Keep kitchen floors clean and trash emptied.
  • Assist with food transportation and storage.
  • Help in preparing and executing special events and theme meals.

Qualifications

Job Qualifications:

  • Ability to build positive relationships with staff and residents.
  • Focus on providing excellent customer service and handling multiple priorities.
  • Ability to operate and maintain kitchen equipment safely.
  • Knowledge of food handling, preparation, cooking, and service.

Education: High school diploma or GED preferred. 1-3 years of experience as a cook in hospitality or healthcare. Serve Safe Certification.

Experience: Preferred in healthcare or hospitality settings.

Certificates/Licenses: Serve Safe Certification required.

Physical Demands:

  • Dexterity to handle instruments and equipment.
  • Visual and auditory acuity.
  • Ability to lift at least 15 lbs., and push/pull carts.
  • Ability to walk, sit, stand, crouch, kneel, and reach as needed.
