Job summary

Princess Cruises and Holland America Line in Skagway, AK is hiring a Line Cook for the summer season in our Food and Beverage team. You will prepare carefully crafted dishes on a fast-paced line, use local ingredients when possible, and help deliver exceptional guest experiences with pride and teamwork.

This seasonal full-time position requires Alaska Food Handler Card, successful background check, and eligibility to work in the United States.

Qualifications

• Must obtain Alaska Food Handler Card.
• Must pass a pre-employment background check.
• Minimum age 18 to reside in company housing, where available.
• Must be eligible to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not offered.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and produce food per recipes and specifications on a kitchen line and prep area in a fast-paced environment.
• Stock workstation to meet business demands.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness and sanitation in all work and storage spaces.
• Stock kitchen, organize product, inspect food quality.
• Complete food safety protocols and logs with guidance from management.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepare and produce food per Company recipes and specifications on a kitchen line and prep area in a fast-paced environment.
• Food preparation and stocking workstation to ensure success for business demands.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness and sanitation in all work and storage spaces.
• Stock kitchen, organize product, inspect food quality.
• Completing food safety protocols and logs with assistance and direction from management.
• Contribute effectively to a positive guest experience while maintaining a professional attitude and appearance.

REQUIREMENTS

• Must be able to obtain an Alaska Food Handler Card.
• Must pass a pre-employment background check.
• Minimum age of 18 years is required to reside in company housing, where available.
• Must be eligible to work in the United States. Holland America-Princess is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of employment visas at this time (e.g., H-2B status).

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

• Ability to lift 50 lbs./23 kg, work around hot kitchen equipment safely, and stand/walk for long periods of time.
• Ability to organize and prioritize work, maintain attention to time constraints, while working in a team or group environment.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple tasks and external influences.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while achieving daily goals.
• Ability to support and comply with company policies, procedures and guidelines including support and comply with company health and safety standards.
• Ability to stand/walk/work on feet for minimum of 8 hours per day.
